Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep - Edmonton & Area
I first heard of the organization in 2011 when a mom in my May 2011 mommy group, lost her baby at 28 weeks gestation. At the time, I had no tangible way to help her grieve besides lend a shoulder and an ear. Since then, I've grown as a professional photographer and when the opportunity presented itself, I decided to lend my time and talents to NILMDTS. Now I am able to help other moms who have lost or are about to lose an infant.
So what do we do? We provide remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby with a free gift of professional portraiture. We believe these images serve as an important step in the family’s healing process by honouring their child’s legacy. Families are photographed in the comfort of their hospital room and in about 6 weeks time, they are gifted with stunning black and white images of their precious baby.
“For families overcome by grief and pain, the idea of photographing their baby may not immediately occur to them. Offering gentle and beautiful photography services in a compassionate and sensitive manner is the heart of this organization. The soft, gentle heirloom photographs of these beautiful babies are an important part of the healing process. They allow families to honour and cherish their babies, and share the spirits of their lives.”
